Dance Dance Re-Volt-ution Project
Description: During this group project, we started off by learning how to make different kinds of circuits, and what insulators and conductors were. From there we got in groups, my group included Cece, Destin, Fabian, and me, our team name was the Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies. After that we started the process of making are dance pads. My group's pads were a little different then other groups because we used buzzers instead of lights. We went through many trials and errors and learned that tape and foil is your friend. Some of the requirements were your dance pad had to work, you had to come up with a dance to go with a 30 second clip of a song, and lastly it had to be beautiful work. I feel my group worked very well together and really collaborated nicely. Our final product was gorgeous and it was really fun watching Margret dance. She did amazing and we got an honarable mention.
Things You Should Know: Some things you should know to help you fully understand our dance pad is first what a simple circuit is. A simple circuit is a circuit that consist of a battery (or energy source), a light bulb, and sometimes a switch. Basically what happens is the energy from the battery goes through the light and turns on the light. You can see the picture to your left for an example. The second thing you should know is the difference between insulators and conductors. Conductors are items that allow energy to pass through it where as insulators stop energy from passing through. An example of conductors are pennies, wire, and foil. An example of insulators are tape, plastic, and cloth. The materials we used are foam, foil, cardboard, wire, buzzers, batteries, battery holders, electrical tape, duck-tape, scissors, x-acto-knife, and hot glue. Below is a visual of the circuit of our pad. It might not be clear in the picture but one of the wires is connected to the top of the pad which is connected to foil. When you press down on the pad the circuit is complete and it creates a buzzing noise.
