The D.A.T.A. Project
Displaying Analysis Through Art
Description: During this individual math based project, we started off by learning how to interpret data and make charts, graphs, and tables with it. From there we choose our topics (mine's books). After that we took a giant survey with everyones questions from their topics. From there we started the infographic making. There weren't many requirements but some were it had to be 11" by 17" (or vice versa), it had to show both qualitative, quantitative, and comparative or bivariate data, lastly it had to be visually appealing. I feel I did amazing on this project, I am very proud of my infographic and my grade (which was 100%). I believe that my work is professional, beautiful, and very informative.
Topic: My topic was Books, in the survey each student got to ask five questions. Mine where:
1.) What is your favorite genre? Science Fiction, Historical Fiction, etc.
2.) What is your favorite popular teen book/series? Hunger Games, Harry Potter, etc.
3.) How many books do you read per month on average?
4.) How many pages are in the book you are reading right now? 0-100, 101-200, etc.
5.) What is your favorite popular childrens book? Where the wild things are, I'll love you forever, etc.
Below is my final infographic:

Below is my final infographic:
Discoveries of my Topic: From my infographic I have learned that 48% of my peers read books that range from 201 to 300 pages, thats almost half. 45% of girls voted there favorite children's book was If You Give A Mouse A Cookie were as 47% of boys voted there favorite was Green Eggs and Ham. Fantasy was the favorite genre at all three schools (HTM, HTMMA, and Other) and in total. In total it ranked 30% of all the students. Lastly most kids read 1 to 3 books per month but one student reads 40 books per month. I hope from looking at my infographic you can learn a lot about how 9th grade students at High Tech High International enjoy books.
